Product Advantages
Grade 7 titanium alloy is developed by adding approximately 0.12% to 0.25% palladium (Pd) to the base of Grade 2, forming a Ti-Pd solid solution. This microalloying dramatically improves its corrosion resistance in reducing media such as acidic solutions and moist hydrogen environments, making it one of the most comprehensively corrosion-resistant commercial titanium grades available today. Grade 7 retains excellent formability and weldability while offering enhanced chemical stability, allowing it to perform reliably under harsh and complex corrosive conditions.
Thanks to the presence of Pd, Grade 7 demonstrates outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in acidic media, chlorides, and low-pH, high-chloride environments. It significantly outperforms most commercially pure titanium and other titanium alloys. Grade 7 is especially reliable in piping systems transporting wet chlorine gas, hydrochloric acid, or high-chloride solutions, and is therefore widely used in demanding chemical processing and storage systems, becoming the preferred material for many critical applications.
Seamless Grade 7 titanium tubes, with their excellent corrosion resistance and stable mechanical performance, can operate safely for long periods in highly corrosive, high-temperature, and cyclic stress environments such as pickling towers, chlorination towers, the chlor-alkali industry, and fertilizer production. Compared to common stainless steel or nickel alloy tubes, Grade 7 seamless titanium tubes can achieve service lives more than five times longer in chloride- and strong acid-based systems, with virtually no maintenance required. As a result, they are considered one of the longest-lasting and most stable high-end corrosion-resistant seamless tubing solutions in industry today, particularly suited for chemical equipment with strict safety and long-term operational requirements.
