Product Advantages
Grade 2 commercially pure titanium is the most widely used grade among industrial titanium materials. It contains approximately 99.2% titanium, with a slightly higher oxygen content (up to 0.25%) that increases its strength. Its tensile strength is roughly 40% higher than that of Grade 1, while still maintaining excellent ductility and toughness. The density of Grade 2 remains at just 4.51 g/cm³, which is nearly 45% lighter than stainless steel, helping reduce structural weight while providing more reliable mechanical strength. This makes it especially suitable for engineering applications that require a combination of moderate strength and good formability.
One of the key advantages of Grade 2 is its excellent balance between strength and formability. It is suitable for cold working, hot working, and various welding techniques, making it ideal for manufacturing pressure-retaining parts, structural components, and equipment housings requiring moderate mechanical performance. Grade 2 performs well in deep drawing, spinning, and cold rolling processes, and is compatible with welding methods such as TIG, plasma welding, and resistance welding, making fabrication and installation easier.
In terms of corrosion resistance, Grade 2 relies on its stable and dense passive oxide film, providing long-lasting protection in seawater, chloride solutions, oxidizing acids, and mildly alkaline environments. It offers excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Compared to Grade 1, Grade 2 provides a higher safety margin in conditions involving mechanical impacts, pressure fluctuations, or moderate loads, making it one of the most popular choices for corrosion-resistant and strength-balanced fluid transport systems in chemical heat exchangers, oil refining, wet chlorine processing, and environmental protection equipment.
Seamless titanium tubes are manufactured through advanced processes such as piercing and cold rolling, resulting in a dense, uniform structure without weld defects, providing higher pressure resistance and lower leakage risk. Compared to welded titanium tubes, seamless tubes can handle higher flow velocities and greater impact loads, and are more reliable under cyclic or fatigue conditions.
Compared to typical stainless steel and carbon steel piping, seamless titanium tubes are lighter in weight and offer superior overall corrosion resistance. Under the same service conditions, their lifespan is often extended by 3–5 times, with significantly reduced maintenance frequency, leading to major savings in long-term maintenance costs.
